Direct Satellite Transmission to USA

University of Central Florida in USA directly transmitted the knowledge on Indian culture and herbal medicine via satellite.

This direct broadcast on Indian herbal medicine started at 6:30 AM Indian time (10:00 AM USA time) from Dr. Susheela Tiwari herbal garden maintained by the Forest department at Narendra Nagar went on for 1 1/2 hour continuously.

Dr. Rani Vajravelu from the University’s Biology department explained the medicinal uses of Aloe, Brahmi, Datura, Neem, Awla, Tulsi, Bhang, Peepul, Kalitulsi, Aswagantha, Bael, Pilakaner, Lajjalu and many other plants from the garden. She also highlighted the use of these plants in ancient Indian culture.  Professor Phil  Peters from the Department of Film & Digital Media and P.N. Vaidyanathan, Assistant Vice President for Research also were present and explained some of the aspects of the team project.

COBHAM satellite Business Manager Darin Anderson and Essel Shyam Telecom company’s Narayan Dhatt Pandey provided support for this project. UCF graduate students Dawn, Reuben,  Jon and Alex along with Panchakarma specialist Usha Vaishnav and her assistant Rajkumar, garden in charge personnel Shivananth Suman, Kiran Dimiri, Vijayandra Mehtani also helped in this event.

Objective was to establish Global Classroom

Professor Phil Peters mentioned that through this global classroom project the students will be exposed to remote, live and interactive experience. Dr. Peters added that the success of this project would lead to another future project.  His objective is to establish a global classroom and deliver a special outdoor experience to students around the world.
