Cowboys with Cameras

UCF Film Course teaches film history, and travels to sites of early westerns

ORLANDO, Feb. 14,2006 -- University of Central Florida's School of Film and Digital Media will be offering a one of a kind experience this summer in the Southwest with Cowboys with Cameras: Following the Footsteps of John Ford. This course (FIL 4262) offered through the Film Dept and Continuing Education at UCF will bring students to the historic locations of America's early western films. From May 10-22, 10 students will travel from Las Vegas through Arizona and Utah; driving through the scenic buttes and deserts of the Southwest sharing similar experiences with early pioneers as they camp out under the stars in places like Monument Valley and Moab. To further their visit to the past, film historians will guide them through the remaining sets and locations of legendary films such as "Stagecoach, The Searchers, and My Darling Clementine."

The total cost per student is $3999 Limited space available, must reserve by March 10th. Non-UCF students can enroll through the Division of Continuing Education.

Included:

  • 12 days of travel includes several seminars with film historians
  • 5-days hotel accommodation (double occupancy)
  • 7 days of camping (fees, meals, and camping equipment provided)
  • Transportation from Las Vegas hotel to all research sites and return to Las Vegas
  • Camping equipment

Not included:

  • Tuition for enrolled courses (6 credits)
  • Transportation costs to and from Las Vegas and any airport transfers
  • Meals at hotels
  • Personal items
