Speaker to appear at UCF argues that the driving force behind the 21st century economy in America will be the multicultural consumer
ORLANDO, October 4, 2005 -- Students, faculty, and staff of the University of Central Florida will have the opportunity to hear award-winning journalist, novelist, and multimedia entrepreneur, Guy Garcia, who will share his views on multicultural consumers and how they are reshaping American businesses in the twenty-first century. Mr. Garcia will be present at the University of Central Florida on Wednesday, November 9th in the Student Union, Pegasus Ballroom, from 7 - 8 p.m.
In his book The New Mainstream: How the Multicultural Consumer is Transforming American Business, Garcia explains how minority consumerism is driving American capitalism. Garcia warns organizations to consider the new consumers who are the driving force in American capitalism. However, more than a book for American businesses, Garcia enlightens his readers to the new reality of American society and the effect that diversification is having on the way we communicate, relate, and do business in our nation. A brief review of Garcia's essays reveals a thorough analysis of sociological phenomena providing a factual chronology of demographical shifts in American society and implications to the American way of life. His views are part of the thematic series at the University of Central Florida about the millennial generation.
Garcia has written for Time, The New York Times, and other publications, and is author of two novels, Skin Deep and Obsidian Sky. In addition to his contributions as a journalist and writer, Garcia is an entrepreneur who was editor of www.TotalNewYork, one of the first urban websites to appear on the internet. He also has had a successful career in various divisions of Time Warner, Inc and America Online (AOL). Garcia's reputation as a well-versed consultant of the economic and global implications of this new mainstream have led to his appearance on various news shows in American and Hispanic television stations. Garcia is founder and CEO of MentalMetric, Inc a multicultural research and marketing firm.
