Research Interests My research interests are broad-based in the natural history of sirenians and the toothed whales (odontocetes) both in the field and in captivity. Over the years studies have included anatomy, food habits, taxonomy, growth and development and reproductive biology of stranded (beached) cetaceans and sirenians. Of particular interest to me is the phenomenon of mass stranding in cetaceans. I maintain a long-term study of bottlenose dolphins in the Indian River Lagoon on the east central coast of Florida. This study uses photo-identification as a tool to document habitat use patterns and social relationships. Studies on captive cetaceans have focused on the details of growth and development of killer whales and false killer whales. Selected Publications Clark, S. T. and D. K. Odell. 1999.
